Terms of Service

Last updated October 7, 2026

Welcome to Launch Commons, a place to share the projects you're building and the videos that document them, find collaborators, and work on notes together. These terms are the agreement between you and Launch Commons when you use the site. By making an account or using the site, you agree to them.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.

1. Your account

  • You must be at least 13 years old to make an account.
  • Give us a real email address, and keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for what happens on your account.
  • One person per account. Don't pretend to be someone else, and don't pick a username that misleads people about who you are.
  • Tell us through our contact form if you think someone else is using your account.

2. What you post

You keep ownership of the videos, projects, comments and notes you post.

By posting, you give Launch Commons a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, process, display and stream it, and to make copies such as thumbnails and different video sizes, only so we can run and show it on Launch Commons. This license ends when you delete the content, except for copies already in backups, which clear within 30 days.

Notes can be edited by more than one person. When you add text to someone else's notes, the owner of those notes, and the people they allow, can keep editing, copying and downloading it.

You promise that you have the right to post what you post, and that it follows these terms.

3. Community rules

Don't post or do anything that:

  • breaks the law, or that you don't have the rights to (someone else's video, music or code without permission)
  • harasses, threatens, bullies or targets hate at anyone
  • is sexually explicit, or sexualizes anyone under 18 in any way
  • shows or encourages serious violence, self-harm, or dangerous activities
  • shares other people's private information without their permission
  • is spam, a scam, malware, or misleading in a way meant to trick people
  • tries to break, overload, scrape, or get around the security of the site

We may remove content that breaks these rules, and suspend or close accounts that break them, especially repeatedly. If we remove something of yours, you can use our contact form to ask us to look again.

4. Copyright complaints

If you believe something on Launch Commons copies your work without permission, use our contact form with a link to it, a description of your original work, your contact details, and a statement that you own the work (or are authorized to act for the owner) and believe in good faith the use isn't allowed. We'll review it and remove infringing material. We close the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe.

5. Our service

Launch Commons is free to use. We're still building it, so features may change, be added or be taken away, and the site may sometimes be unavailable. Keep your own copies of anything important to you; we don't promise to keep backups of your videos or notes forever.

The Launch Commons name, logo and site design belong to us. You can't use them in a way that suggests we endorse you without our written permission.

6. Closing your account

You can stop using Launch Commons at any time, and delete your account yourself in Settings (or ask us through our contact form). We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, or if we have to for legal reasons. If we stop running Launch Commons, we'll give you notice so you can download your notes first.

7. Disclaimers

Launch Commons is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. Content on the site is posted by its members, not by us, and we don't check it before it appears. We aren't responsible for what members post, for advice or code shared in videos or notes, or for agreements you make with other members about projects.

To the fullest extent the law allows, Launch Commons isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost data or lost profits, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to $100. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

8. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we'll update the date at the top. For important changes, we'll tell you by email or on the site before they take effect. If you keep using Launch Commons after that, you accept the new terms.
